JOY FOR ALL

In addition to presenting us with circumstances we would have never imagined, 2020 has given us the opportunity to reimagine how to serve and connect with people in our community.  This Christmas we invite you to join us through JOY FOR ALL: a partnership to bring the joy of Christmas to critically vulnerable kids and families affected by the COVID -19 pandemic. To ensure that we serve critically vulnerable children and families, we are working with Quarterfireld Elementary School and the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services.   To pull this off, we need your help, and we have more than one way for you to get involved.  Will you join us in bringing the joy of Christmas to children and families across our community?

SPONSOR A CHILD.

To sponsor a child, you have 2 options.  You can tap the button below and follow the prompts, or visit the JOY FOR ALL TREE while attending our Sunday morning gathering.  Along with the child’s name and age, you will receive clothing sizes, shoe size, and gift ideas.

ASSEMBLE CHRISTMAS COOKIE KITS.

This year, Severn KiDS is teaming up with Quarterfield Elementary and the Anne Arundel County Food Bank in a fun way. We will be making Christmas Cookie Kits that will be distributed at our next Pop-Up Pantry on Dec. 12, 2020. These fun kits will include a pack of sugar cookie mix with cookie cutters that tell the story of Christmas.  We will provide all the supplies, but we need your help assembling the cookie kits.  If you want to help but can’t assemble cookie kits, consider making a donation.  Every $30 you donate covers the cost of 5 kits.

DONATE.

You can support JOY FOR ALL and the other ways our church is serving like Jesus through the pandemic by making a donation to our Help Fund.

SPONSORING A CHILD? HERE’S HOW IT WORKS.

Beginning Sunday, November 22, you will have the opportunity to bring the joy of Christmas to families across our community. To make this as simple as possible, we’ve developed easy steps to help you sponsor a child through JOY FOR ALL.

STEP 1 | SPONSOR

To sponsor a child, simply grab a name while attending our Sunday morning gathering or register online.  Along with the child’s name and age, you will receive clothing sizes, shoe size, and some gift ideas. If you want to sponsor a child, but you’re no in a position to shop, one of our designated shoppers would love to do that for you.  Contact us at christmas@severn.cc for more information.

STEP 2 | SHOP

Now that you’ve grabbed a name, the next step is to shop.  We are encouraging that you shop for at least 4 to 6 gifts for each person you sponsor.  We recommend setting a budget to make sure you stay within your means.

STEP 3 | WRAP

Now that you’ve grabbed a name, and shopped, it’s time to wrap gifts.  Be sure to wrap each gift individually and to clearly label them with the recipient’s name.

STEP 4 | DROP/DELIVER

Once your gifts are wrapped and labeled, they’re ready to be delivered or dropped off.  To make it easy on you, you can drop off gifts at Severn Covenant Church on Sundays between 9:00 and 11:30 am and Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Home deliveries will be coordinated between the sponsor and the parent/guardian of the sponsored child.   A distribution day for all other gifts is scheduled for Sunday, December 20 at 12:30 pm at Severn Covenant Church.  Gifts will be distributed in drive-thru fashion.  In the event that the recipient cannot pick up their gifts on that date, arrangements will be made for home delivery.

ASSEMBLING COOKIE KITS? HERE’S HOW IT WORKS.

Registration for cookie kit assembly opens on Sunday, November 29. Here are the 4 easy steps that make it easy for anyone to participate in JOY FOR ALL.

STEP 1 | SIGN UP

To request cookie kits, take a moment to register online. This will help us get everything ready and to arrange a pickup time.  Want to do this as a family or with a group of friends?   Be sure to request more than one kit.

STEP 2 | ASSEMBLE

Once you have your cookie kits, you’re ready to assemble them. Each cookie kit includes sugar cookie mix, cookie cutters tell help the story of Jesus, a gift bag, baking instructions and an invitation to our Christmas gathering.  You can personalize the kit by including a handwritten note to wish the recipient a Merry Christmas.

STEP 3 | DROP

Now that all of your cookie kits are assembled, the next step is to drop them off at Severn Covenant Church. Assembled cookie kits must be dropped off by 5 pm on Thursday, December 9. The best time to drop off assembled cookie kits is on Sundays between 9:00 and 11:30 am and Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

STEP 4 | DELIVER

Cookie kits will be distributed in drive-thru fashion at our Pop-Up Pantry scheduled for Saturday, December 12.  If you want to get in on the action, be sure to register online
