CHURCH IN THE OPEN | SATURDAYS @ 7PM

We are excited to invite you and your family and friends to Church in the Open.  Bring your own chair or blanket and join us outdoors on Saturdays at 7 p.m. for a time of worship, an encouraging message, and activities for children ages 4 through 5th grade.

If you are concerned about safety, you are in good company. In fact, that is our top priority, and it is why we are following guidelines from the CDC and other local health organizations regarding sanitization, social distancing, and face coverings.  To learn more about Church in the Open and what to expect, take a look at the FAQ below.

CHURCH IN THE OPEN | FAQ
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?
  • SERVICE TIME
      • The service will start at 7 PM and will conclude at  8 or a little after.
      • If you can’t attend for any reason, our service will also be live streamed at 7 PM on Saturdays and 11:30 AM on Sundays through the following options:
  • SAFETY
      • Social distancing should be practiced at all times. As hard as this may be, this means no hugging, handshakes, close proximity, etc.
      • When you arrive please make your way to the field to find a space to sit. There will be clearly marked circles in the field that are spaced 6 ft apart. Each circle is designated for one family/ household per circle.
      • Face masks are to be worn at any time that social distancing cannot be maintained. This includes when arriving and making your way to the field, when using the restroom and when leaving the property. However, once you are in your specific, socially-distanced area of the field you may remove your mask if you are comfortable doing so.
      • In order to reduce contact at our service we will not be serving any coffee or donuts. However, you are encouraged to bring your own coffee, water, etc.
      • If you are not feeling well please stay home and take part in our service via our live stream options.
      • Given that our field is not shaded, we recommend hats, visors, umbrellas and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.
  • SEATING
      • Please bring your own blanket/ lawn chairs to use on the field.
      • We will have clearly marked circles in the field that are spaced 6 ft apart. Each circle is designated for one family/household per circle.
  • BATHROOMS
      • The church building will be open for bathroom use only and will be set up for one-way foot-traffic through the building. This path will be clearly marked with signage.
  • WORSHIP
      • Our typical approach of projecting the worship lyrics on a screen will not be possible. Because of that, we will be making all the worship lyrics available to you the morning of the service. You will be able to get all the lyrics by texting the word “WORSHIP” to (410) 618-0869.

WILL THERE BE SOMETHING FOR MY KIDS?
  • Infants and Toddlers will be expected to stay with their parents for the service.
  • Severn Kids Pre-k – 5th Grade classes will be available outdoors in the church pavilion.
  • Kids check-in opens at 6:30 PM and will take check-in table by the main entrance to the field.
  • Face masks are to be worn at any time that social distancing cannot be maintained. This includes when arriving and making your way to the field, the Severn Kids area, when using the restroom and when leaving the property. Children will not be required to wear masks unless social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Outdoor clothing is recommended as the children will be sitting on the ground.
  • Children should not bring any personal items, toys, stuffed animals, etc. with them.
  • In the event your child needs to use the restroom, you will be contacted via a text message requesting you pick-up your child and help them to the restroom.

HOW CAN I INVITE PEOPLE?

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE EVENT OF INCLEMENT WEATHER
  • If Church in the Open has to canceled for any reason, cancelations will be communicated via this page and our social media outlets.  In the event of a cancellation, our service will still be live streamed on Saturdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 11:30 AM.
